Our VoteTopic Calendar for 2024-25 is here, and this time we're doing things a little differently... For all 39 VoteTopics, a key theme has been allocated. We will be covering a topical question linked to the pre-planned theme each week, the only exception being when something major hits the headlines that doesn't quite align.
The calendar will help you to plan ahead while also giving students the opportunity to discuss a wide range of current issues. The eagle-eyed amongst you will also see that we are introducing "Voters' Choice" weeks, where we will be seeking submissions for VoteTopics from you and your voters.
We’ve allocated one of our 9 Key Themes to each of the VoteTopics you will receive in 2024-25. You can find out more about these themes on your Teacher Dashboard.
Where possible, we want to lighten the load for teachers, and we know that a bit of a heads up goes a long way. Pre-planning topics also ensures that voters get to discuss a wide range of issues.
Our lessons will always have topical issues at their heart. Most of the time what's happening in the news fits seamlessly into our key themes, so not much will change.
On the odd occasion where something major hits the headlines and doesn't match the week's theme, we may change plans around a bit. But don't worry, we'll always let you know.
New for 2024-25, we want to give voters the chance to submit their own ideas for a VoteTopic. We will then select which of these to cover during the designated “Voters’ Choice” weeks!
